US Mass Shootings
mass_shootings.RdA dataset containing records on all identifiable mass shootings in the United States from 1982-2021.
Format
A data frame with 124 rows and 14 variables:
- case
Short name of the incident.
- year
Year in which the shooting occurred.
- month
Month in which the shooting occurred.
- day
Day in which the shooting occurred.
- location
City and state where the shooting occurred.
- summary
Brief text description of the mass shooting incident.
- fatalities
Number of fatal victims in the incident (excluding the shooter).
- injured
Number of injured, non-fatal victims in the incident (excluding the shooter).
- total_victims
Number of total victims in the incident (excluding the shooter).
- location_type
Generic location in which the shooting occurred.
- male
Logical value indicating if the perpetrator was a male.
- age_of_shooter
Age of the perpetrator when the incident occurred.
- race
Race of the shooter.
- prior_mental_illness
Did the perpetrator show evidence of mental illness prior to the incident?
